IFS therapist & UKCP clinical supervisor

Sarah has been fascinated with the workings of the mind since she was very young, having grown up in a family wrestling with issues of addiction, psychosis and multi-generational trauma. In search of greater understanding, she completed a degree in Philosophy & Literature in the 1980s before going on to write and contribute to many philosophy and psychology books, including the international bestseller  What Would Freud Do? (now available in 14 languages).

In 2011 Sarah began training in integrative  counselling and psychotherapy, and worked  with individuals and couples in Cambridge and Suffolk for many years before moving to Cheltenham in 2025. She has also studied  psychodynamic therapy at the Psychoanalytic Centre at the University of Essex,
interpersonal neurobiology with The Mindsight Institute, California  and has completed all three levels of training in Internal Family Systems (IFS)  therapy with in-person training from Richard Schwartz, Frank Anderson and Cece Sykes. In 2021 Sarah qualified as a UKCP registered clinical supervisor, offering supervision to counsellors and therapists interested in incorporating parts work into their therapeutic model.

Sarah is the author of What Would Freud Do? (Octopus Books, 2017)  and the co-author of a number  other books, including a new edition of Freud's The Interpretation of Dreams (Captone 2020), The Children's Book of Philosophy (DK, 2015), The Sociology Book (DK, 2015) and Instant Psychology (Welbeck 2021).
